Pool Time!

We gave up our Columbia Association membership several years ago. We didn't use most of the services and it just cost too much money. And we didn't miss it last year, as I was pregnant over the summer and on light duty for most of the hot months anyhow. But this year we've been hankering to go to the pool. Lots. So I looked around at some of the local swim clubs. Most of them have wait lists and most of the memberships are cost prohibitive for us at this point. But I did find one that offers an "August Only" membership, to sort of let you try out the pool. Score! So we joined Atholton Swim Club for the month of August (well, actually through Labor Day). Today was the first day it worked out for us to go, since yesterday's weather was questionable at best, and the day before we were all suited up and headed that way when I fell down the front steps and busted up my knee...sigh.

We had a great time today and the pool was practically deserted! We split time between the big pool with inner tubes for both girls and the kiddie pool. Obviously, I only had free hands while we were playing in the kiddie pool :-)

And just for kicks...

Hi Melanie!
My name is Kelly and I work in the Communications division at CA. I came across your post and wanted to let you know (in case you didn’t!) that if you live on CA-assessed property, you can visit CA’s pools for free the Second Sunday of every summer month – like Sun, Aug 14 (which is coming up!) You just need to pick up a free Resident Card from our Membership Service Center. Also, you can pay-as-you go with the Resident Card and pay a daily admission rate, in case you decide next summer you don’t want to commit to any pool membership. Also, the Village you live in may also offer free pool parties throughout the summer that are free to residents of that Village. Hope this info helps and enjoy the rest of your summer!
