Tot School!

We're starting to get back in the swing of things, though we haven't gotten back to our letter themes. We diverted a bit this week to numbers, specifically, counting. Jillian has expressed an interest in counting things, so I'm letting her lead the way in this while she has the interest.

We checked out tons of number and counting books at the library and every night they've been what she wants to read before bed. She even counts along with her version of the 1...2...3... cadence (though her numbers sound mostly like three and five only!).

From our local library, we also checked out a set of wooden blocks. I've wanted to get her a really nice set of wooden blocks for a while, but the nice ones are really expensive (and expensive to ship, too). We may end up making her a set on our own at some point. But for now, the library blocks have been a great imagination toy for her! Here she is playing with them...and counting them!

Jillian spent some time with her "Water" book this week too. We won this from a giveaway on Raising Itty Bitty Bookworms a couple months ago (along with "Holes") and Jillian is really enjoying them! The books are by Books By Tara, and if you are looking for some Christmas gifts for little ones, the books are really put together well and the real photographs are quite captivating!

This is the first week Jillian has "put the pieces together" with puzzles (pun intended). For the first time, Jillian got a puzzle out, took out all the pieces, named each piece (in this case farm animals), and put them all back together with no help from me at all!

We got our first snow of the season here over the weekend and Jillian got to enjoy some outdoor time!

For some much more awesome Tot School activities than these, head over to 1+1+1=1 and check out the other blogs!
