Thanksgiving Festivities

For Jillian's first Thanksgiving Day celebration, we traveled up to my mom's house for a mid-day feast. Jillian enjoyed some mashed potatoes (of course), peas, sweet potatoes, stuffing and most of all, the pumpkin pie.

After dinner, Jillian played with the various stuffed turkeys my mom had around the house.

This pilgrim/turkey played some ho-down type music.

This turkey apparently looked edible.

Jillian let Dottie (her great grandmother) hold her for a bit.

I learned some new math:
too much pumpkin pie + 10 month old baby + car ride = projectile vomiting. Oops. No pictures of that event.

We went to my mother-in-law's house later in the evening and watched the second half of the Cowboys game. Go Cowboys!!

Today we ventured to Timonium to see the Festival of Trees.

This was from "The Purity Ring Tree". It reminded me of a "Family Guy" episode.

We're not putting up a big tree this year, so I dressed Jillian in one of her Christmas outfits to snap some festive pictures.

I liked the Grinch Tree.

Now, I'm not usually a craft enthusiast, but they had some awesome stuff there, from gently used children's books for $1, to quirky socks, cashmere scarves, dip mixes, and the most adorable crowns/tiaras. Of course, I had to get Jillian her first tiara. She doesn't love it yet...but I do!!!

Fun with Friends

Today our friends from the moms group came over to play at our house. We had all kinds of fun.

Jillian and Christian cruised around the activity table.
Amedeo checked out the jungle activity center.
Jocelyn did some dancing.
Christian got a little fresh with Jilly.
Then they decided to take it upstairs to her room.

This morning I took a shower before the baby's nap. She really doesn't like it when I get in the shower; it totally freaks her out. So today she kept an eye on me. The whole time. And apparently she decided that I needed to have clothes on, because while I was in the shower, she proceeded to bring me the clothes I had taken off before the shower. Piece by piece. And put them in the tub while I was showering. No pictures, sorry, but it was pretty funny.

And this is what kept me entertained while Daddy made dinner this evening.

Sportin' a New Look!

Thanks to Jen and her Little One Originals Jillian has two hair bows.

Here she is sporting her new look.

My busy baby reading her "Busy Baby" book with her new hair bow.

Chewing on Daddy's glasses.

Jillian's favorite post - looking out the front door.

Telling us all about it!

Does this really need a caption?

Jillian is a little climber and has figured out how to wiggle her way out of the "seat belt" in the front of shopping carts. She's tumbled into the big basket from the front and tried to climb onto the trunk of the car in the parking lot, all while being "buckled in". Today we tried something different - distraction! At Harris Teeter they have shopping carts with steering wheels up front, but they're different than the lower ones at other stores - they are up at the same height as the regular front basket of the cart. My only concern was that it would have her facing away from me. Well, I need not have worried. I strapped her in and had a wiggle free grocery trip - hooray!!!

Just Another Play-Day

Jillian took an early afternoon nap today, so we went up to My Gym for a free play session. Jillian was almost overwhelmed by all the kids playing around!

Jillian likes going up and down the steps. She was so excited she was jumping up and down on the top step since she could hold on.

After we jumped a little on the trampoline, Jilly wanted to play in the ball pit.

She's so tiny I almost lost her amongst the balls!

An eye level view.

After we got home and had a snack, Jillian played with her new "Jungle Gym" from her Bubby and Paw-Paw.

NOTE: I wanted to title this blog entry something different, a theme that seems to run through some of the pictures, but I couldn't think of a good way to use the common theme that didn't sound somewhat inappropriate.

Wordless Wednesday

Since not much exciting happened today, I'm going to take a stab at this "Wordless Wednesday" thing (I guess it's not REALLY wordless, since I introduced it, huh?).

Terrific Tuesday!

This morning Jillian and I met up with an old friend of mine, Shanna, and her daughter Megan at Columbia Mall. We played some, had some Cinnabon for breakfast, played some more, and did a little shopping.

After a good nap and some lunch, I washed her hands as usual, and sat her up on the counter to wet a paper towel and clean up her face. She promptly reached over for daddy's bottle of rum - the good rum. I had to quick grab the camera and capture this moment.

NOTE: the bottle is unopened.

And as promised, I got Jillian to go down the stairs again and got a video of it. She changed her mind halfway down, but you get the idea. Now I really have to start using the baby gate, since our basement is NOT childproofed.

This Can Only End in Disaster

How we haven't made our first trip to the emergency room is beyond me.

Other news from the Jillian front: on Saturday, Jillian officially went DOWN a flight of steps by herself! I'll get a video of that feat up soon.

Obligatory Fall Picture

Today we went outside for a while before the major rain moved in and raked some more leaves. The leaves were a little wet, but since it was pretty warm out, I went ahead and took the obligatory baby-in-the-leaf-pile pictures.

Good Choices...and Bad Choices

Jillian has taken to carrying things around with her. Yesterday for the second time, she dragged my Cowboys jacket off of a chair and carried it around the living room for a while, before carrying it all the way upstairs with her.

While this pleased me, I had to do a test. I got out daddy's identical style Redskins jacket and put them in the same manner on the piano bench, then let her go.

Her choice is clear. This is a change from her previous affinity to Redskins colors.

We ordered dinner tonight from Pazani in Elkridge. Waiting for it to arrive, Jillian was getting a mite peckish.

Then dinner arrived. We've always given Jillian pasta to eat with us, and she's done just fine with it. She was super hungry this evening, and kept shoveling it in. Daddy's penne pasta, mommy's gnocchi, her ravioli. It was a messy event.

After dinner we proceeded with our bedtime routine, but tonight Jillian got to take a bath in the big people tub (after an unfortunate incident involving the cat's back claws and the inflatable duck tub). She did just fine in the big tub, although she was a bit sleepy.

Jillian was very sleepy after her bath.

About an hour after she went to sleep, I heard her up coughing a little. Then crying a little. I smelled it as soon as I hit the top step. Apparently we gave our sweet little angel too much rich Italian food, and her tummy was not pleased. YUCK! Poor thing!!! (NOTE: I didn't take a picture of the vomiting incident - I was too busy doing emergency laundry)

A Busy Day for a Busy Baby

Today Jillian started her class at My Gym here in Columbia. We went to a "trial" class a couple weeks ago and it was a great time, so my parents bought her a membership and a session of classes as an early Christmas present. Thank you NiNi and Poppop! I'm very excited to have a place to take her once a week for classes (and other various times for "free plays") that she can climb and jump and play until her heart is content! And the gymnastic side of it appeals to me greatly - I'm not biased or anything....

Today was also Granny's birthday - Happy Birthday Granny! We met her, Grandpa, Aunt Barb, Cousin Stacey and Daddy at Friday's for a birthday dinner. Jillian and Grandpa had some bonding time.
