Jillian tried sipping from a straw the other day at lunch, so I thought that perhaps it was time to get her a cup with a baby-friendly straw. I picked up a set of two cups for her today, and she successfully drank a couple of sips, looking surprised every time she actually got some water up the straw. What fun!!
On Friday, Jillian's Bubby took us to lunch and we did a little shopping afterwards. I love BabyGap. This little girl needs nothing, but BabyGap sucked us in. So here's a shot of her dressed up for church today in her new outfit. After all, what fun is having a baby girl if you can't dress her up every once in a while?
Today Jillian had her first play date. We met Melissa and her daughter Sadie at the pool for a swim. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures at the pool of the two girls, as we were chased away by an impending storm.
Jillian isn't crawling yet, but she has learned to get around by rolling. I took this picture after she did some rolling around the living room. She started on her back at the bottom of the picture, by the orange and purple block. And soon she made it across the room. Who needs crawling?
Our townhouse is on the market, and has been now for five weeks. We've had lots of showings, but no offers. Now I know this is a terrible market in which to sell a house, and average days on the market is three months. But I really wish someone would make an offer. I'm not a total slob, but I hate that when I'm trying to relax at night, everything that's not straightened up or put away just makes me feel like there's one more thing I have to do, be it that night or the next morning. I'd just like to be able to not see everything around me as a chore, and be able to relax like I used to.
I snapped some pictures of my cat Gus today. We recently found out that he has hyperthyroidism and put him on meds for it about 3 weeks ago. He is recovering amazingly well. He had gone from over 16 pounds to just over nine pounds in a year and a half, losing most of the weight between this past March and June. He's putting weight back on fabulously and looks like my big boy again!
Today I took the baby to the Dickinson pool today. I really liked this pool - the baby pool is one foot deep in the middle, but shallower around the outer edges, so Jillian can actually sit in the water and play. This picture is an attempted self portrait of me with Jillian. I actually like it better than the ones that show our entire faces.
I tried something a little "artsier" today. My cousin Jesse got married, it was very nice. At the reception, they had glasses of ginger ale with cherries in for the kids instead of champagne. I liked the way this shot turned out. Not like Jillian was going to drink hers....
Day 2 of the daily photos. Yet another of the baby. Most of her bathing suits are still too big for her, even though she is five months old. We went to the pool in Stevens Forest today and I got to take some pictures of her in her turtle floatie. I gave her a couple toys to play with in the little splash area at the front of the floatie, but she got distracted by them and didn't want to play with the water. I'm SO glad she likes the pool!
So I've decided to start Project 365, a photo a day for a year. Wish me luck - I have to remember to start carrying my camera with me. I thought about it at the end of last year, but forgot about it until something reminded me of it last night. I'm going to do it. The hardest thing for me will be trying to take photos of things other than my 5 month old, who is of course, my favorite subject.
Jillian has learned to get around by rolling, since she can't crawl yet. She spent part of the afternoon motoring around daddy's quilt on the floor and ended up by the coffee table. After moments of silence, I checked on her, only to find her licking the side of our coffee table. I took this picture after she stopped when she saw me.
I'm a funeral director turned stay at home mom who's married to a loving and very hard working husband. I knit, I sing in the church choir, I cook and bake, and I am lucky enough to be entertained daily by the antics of my two little girls!
